Microsoft AdCenter joins the Search Engine Marketing Industry
Microsoft adCenter (formerly MSN adCenter) offers Pay-Per-Click advertisements on MSN Live Search listings and was the last of the "Big Three" (Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft) to expand into Pay-Per-Click ads. Up until 2006, all of MSN's ads were supplied by Overture (later Yahoo!) where MSN would collect a percentage of the ad revenue. In return, they would display some of Yahoo!’s ads on their search engine. Microsoft began to develop their own system for selling Pay-Per-Click Sponsored Search as search engine marketing grew. Microsoft adCenter would sell Sponsored Search advertisements directly to advertisers themselves after June 2006 when the contract between Microsoft and Yahoo! expired, creating an exciting new player in the Search Engine Marketing industry.
