Often new Search Engine Applications or features are released on the Google's Blogspot.
Another excellent resource for Google News and tricks is http://www.mattcutts.com/. Matt Cutts is one of the few senior development staff at Google that regularly communicates new features, information on search engine listings updates, search engine advertising tools (Google Adwords), and more!

It’s nice to see the future of Web Search emerge from Google, Yahoo & MSN. But what happens if you’re impatient? Or have the attention span of a 5 year old with nothing to eat but a bucket of sugary snacks. Tell me now! Well here it is:

Wishing for new stuff!

Since our crystal ball to the future of Search is on the fritz, we polled everyone in the office to make a wish! The question was simple: "What new Search Engine applications or widgets would you like to see or use?"

Our search engine poll was not taken very seriously or scientifically. As most of us know, the true development process actually entails complaining hard enough so a stressed web developer will make it so! If by some chance we have infringed on some ultra secret unreleased killer application, I fear greatly for the future: Don’t steal our ideas!

Google Prayer Search Index Toolbar

– This hypothetical Google search engine utility tracks the number of web pages and chatter of all three major religions on the planet. Jessica Albaism, Beyoncism & Oprah Worship. Oh wait, Google's hottest search engine Trends takes care of that.
http://www.google.com/trends/hottrends?sa=X

Yahoo “Put me on the first page” Tool
– Since the death of Overture, we all miss the instant placement of our Yahoo Search Engine sponsored search listings at the top by simple out bidding. These new quality ratings are messing us up our listings! At least they still take 299$ USD annually for instant premiere natural listings through their Yahoo Directory.
Make that Yahoo "Put me on the first page FOR FREE" tool!

Google Maps Enemy Search
– This is one is really scary! Always know where your arch foe is hiding. If you have no nemesis (although I'm sure all you SEO guys out there know about competition), the "Google Maps Enemy Search" will find your competition and zoom in on the Google Maps to a window level view to watch their computer screens. Some countries have even turned to Google rather than Hughes for their satellite info!

MSN Telegram Tool
– Convert your MSN Instant Messenger chats into the defunct Telegraphy format. Hear your converted MSN chat messages as Morse Code beeps to transmit over tin can and wire to the neighbour. Great tool if you can't afford a wireless router.

Google Spam & Popup Organizer
– Google Spam & Popup Organizer widget categorizes and consolidates your spam into 3 sections: viagra/enlargement pills, 0% mortgage/free loans, and various forum/blog/ confirmation links. Set the parameters in the preferences before you delete. Share your spam on Google Spam Watch Forum, hmmm maybe not. Collaborative mashup anti worm spam backed by trusted gentle giant Google? It could be great.

Yahoo Whacko Jacko Watch
– With Yahoo really pushing their new Hottest Trends search tools and lots of star news, they should expand their celebrity related feeds. Not as comprehensive as Google Enemy Search, but can keep track of Dictators, Movie Stars, Cat Ladies or relatives you rather not admit to having. Great for the paparazzi on the run. It would be great if we could geta search tool for all the press monickers for these stars too. Whacko Jacko, Dubya, K-Fed (aka Fed-Up), Brangelina, it's hard to keep track of these great new nick names. What's P-Diddy's name now anyways? Is Prince still %@!$ ??

MSN Virtual Life Watcher
– The MSN Virtual Life Watcher lets you keep abreast if the Armies of the Dark Lord Sauron are amassing at the border, if your bank account in Second Life is in trouble or if your beloved character in the World of Warcraft still lives. Also tracks your dwindling social life.
This is more realistic than you might think, recent news on our rumormill has Google developing virtual life software: http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070924-google-testing-my-world-for-launch-later-this-year.html.

Google FBI Classified Document Search
– Conspiracy buffs are also waiting for CIA Classified Document Search, It has been a concern for sometime that Google, Yahoo or MSN crawlers may index confidential or sensitive file information. We already know Googles crawler takes everything on a site. The "no follow" link tag does not mean "don't crawl!". Why not make it easier by making a search tool that exploits those special files that foolish people leave unsecured.

Search-Engine-Man

Do Not Search For Your Own Google Search Engine Placement Ads

Congratulations! You've just started your Search Engine Placement Campaign with Google, hopefully with Searchlinqs.com! The brand new customer immediately starts typing every relevant keyword in your campaign into the Google Search Engines.

"Of course I only want to make sure that I'm actually placed in the position I purchased! Whats wrong with that?" Plenty, if this behaviour persists everyday.

Would you call your own 1-800 number everyday?

Most Search Engine Placement Campaign owners understand that by clicking on your own Keyword Ad it will cost you money. Like calling your own 1-800 number everyday to monitor if the service works!

Impressions vs Click Thru Rate

What customers do not comprehend is the complex relationship between Impressions (seeing your Ad on the page) vs Click Thru Rate (CTR) and the possible effects on your keyword Ad. Googles algorithm for Search Engine Placement takes Click Thru Rate into account each time a Search Engine Placement Ad is viewed and not clicked on.

If your Ad was not compelling enough to draw interest (no clicks on your Google Ad / everyday), a poor Click Thru Rate score is recorded for your Search Engine Placement Ad. A poor Click Thru Rate score will mean your Ads placement and frequency may be diminished.

Don't Sabotage Your Own Search Engine Marketing Efforts!

The more you search for your Search Engine Placement Ad everyday, the more you sabotage your own Search Engine Marketing efforts! The more specific and targeted your phrase, the greater the effect.

Worse by searching for your Search Engine Placement Keyword Ad on a regular basis, you create a pattern of the bad Click Thru Rate scenario for your paid keywords. Do this enough times and Google will eventually raise the price of the minimum Bid for the word in order to justify your keywords current position.

Simply put avoid searching for your Search Engine Placement Ads on Google on a regular basis.

Use the Adwords Preview Tool Instead

So how do you search for your Search Engine Placement Ad without negatively impacting your Click Thru Ratio? Google provided the Adwords Preview Tool which you can access to view your ads without penalizing your Click Thru Ratio:

https://adwords.google.com/select/AdTargetingPreviewTool.

The Google tool is also very useful to simulate searches from different area's of the country. For example your business is situated in New York City and wish to see the search results for a user in Los Angeles. The Adwords Preview Tool can modified to simulate an LA search.

Keep your Click Thru Ratio clean.

Search-Engine-Man

Search Engine Marketing, Standing above the Rest.

Introducing the Searchlinqs.com Web Blog.

As a member of the Searchlinqs Internet Marketing team, it's an exciting time to be a part of our emerging Internet Advertising Industry. Search Engine Marketing (SEM), Search Engine Placement (SEP) & Search Engine Optimization (SEO) are shaping the way we work, play, shop and market ourselves online.

That's a pretty big statement to make! The content that appears on Google, Yahoo and MSN are by no means accidental or arbitrary. The algorithm/formula for sorting what appears on the Search Engines, are closely guarded secrets worth millions of dollars of marketing revenue and can turn the most obscure site or gossip into international results.

Much like a newspaper editor or publicist, a decision is made on what content is relevant or invisible to the rest of us. The search engine results only begin with the selected keywords entered into a Search Engine. Careful observation and analysis of those search results are part what the SEO industry and Search Engine Optimization companies do.

Google, Yahoo and MSN has become the defacto portals and gatekeepers for the online service world. The sheer volume-combinations of search terms, keywords and related keywords can only be managed by software agents. When these giants move, the Search Engine universe shudders. Google has released no less than 10 updates in the last 2 years; each change shapes the search engine landscape.

We have created this SEO blog to showcase Internet Advertising, Internet Marketing tools, showcase Tutorials & Recent Articles, Keyword research strategies and offer opinions on that we feel are major issues affecting our industry. We hope that you find us a useful source and hope you visit us often.

Search-Engine-Man
