How social is social media?

In light of a recent story that I just read regarding a woman who lost her insurance due to photos that she posted on Facebook I started thinking…how social is social media? When it first started Facebook was used for getting in touch with long lost friends and keeping in touch with everyone else. More and more it is becoming something that people have to really think about before they post a comment or add a picture. Potential employers are scanning Facebook profiles before making their decisions; people are losing their jobs based on content that they include on their page and so on.

Should there be a line between social media and professional use??
